I've tried about three Sichuan restaurants in town and this is by far my favorite so far. Again I'm not a food blogger nor am I earning a free meal to post a good review. Rather an honest review.

Here's my list of go to foods to try here:

    Chili oil dumplings
    Spicy crispy fried chicken
    spicy brisket noodles

    Dan Dan noodles
    Spicy boiled fish
    Schezuan dumplings

Pork intestine and blood tofu hot pot with noodle
Sliced beef and ox tongue in chili sauce
    Shredded chicken cold noodles

    Schezuan cold noodle
    Schezuan Mixed hot pot

    Thin sliced pork hot pot
    Stir fried beef hot pot

I had tried all these but this has been about four returns to the restaurant. If you are eating alone I suggest two dishes. If you're with a group or four or five you can still get by with like three and max four dishes.

We like going here because it's small and the staff are generally nice and friendly. I read the other reviews prior to coming here and it did scare me but we still went anyways I'm glad we did! Best food hands down and became our top Sichuan place I'm kinda scared of trying another now.

    Honest reviews! Enjoy!

    5 years later.

Update from last review, they added noodles in most soups. (+1) I love the small clay pot noodles with delicious soups, if they are eaten by themselves. But they are bland eating with other spicy dishes. I wish they had spicy broths. I need to add broth from spicy side dish to up the Sichuan flavor.

    Would I come back?
    No. Not a fat chance.

I was only here for a small gathering with friends wanted to experience the hotpot with Chinatown Crawl meetup. Service was horrible. The wait staff didn't have patience for my friend to select a rice dish shown on TV monitor. Slideshow should had names but it wasn't informative. (-1)

They got one big table to fit 8 people but only 5 seats are comfortable. One person had to dodge the bathroom door, if someone sat there. The waitstaff constantly pulling chair from our table. Because they were empty. Part of out table was used to store unused plates from other tables. WTF (-1) do we exist?

We ordered 2 beef brisket noodles but only received one, because waitress didn't pay attention. (-1) My friends said it's okay, they ate more special chicken 怪味鸡 and other appetizers instead.

I signaled our tea pot that needed water. Bad.
We waited over 20 minutes between first dish and last dish. Bad.
They lied about the ability to split check. Bad.

So it was a little hard to find at first because so much is going on in this shopping center but we finally found it towards the back of the center. It's a small, quaint eatery and the atmosphere is casual.

We were helped immediately and brought out a bowl of broth for appetizer I guess?? Sorry not too sure because I honestly came for one thing and one thing only, the dan dan noodles.

After reading the reviews for it I had high hopes. However, they fell kind of flat when I finally received mine. They come out fresh and hot, spicy or not spicy but personally I like a thinner texture of noodle. I ordered spicy but the flavors still seem to be missing something. I threw in some extra heat and soy sauce but didn't help too much. I was really wanting to be blown away but I think I'm gonna stick to my usual spot in Montrose, the cooking girls. This is just a personal preference but I think reading the reviews my expectations were a little too high.

I have a lot of patience, even when hungry and know family owned Asian restaurants can "unprofessional" and seem rude, but there should be a line drawn where that is. Having your entire family/friends gossiping at the restaurant (not even the kitchen, sitting at a table) with a baby on the lazy susan on the freaking table is something else. I got there, they let me choose my seat, and ordering took a while bc they kept chatting, even when I looked at them a few times, trying to let them know I was ready to order (I was the only one in the restaurant). I got my water, soup, and pickled veggies and when my waitress finally came to get my order, a male from the family/friend group came too since she didn't speak English. That's not a issue to me since I pointed out on the menu what I wanted but they both acted super confused and looked at me funny when I pointed out what I wanted (and did so several more times). She wrote it down and was leaving and the male asked me yet again what I wanted. When I got my food a few of them were staring at me and speaking loudly in mandarin so to say it was an uncomfortable meal was an understatement. Even going on my phone and ignoring them didn't work. Another customer came and the family/friends finally disbanded and attempted to look like they were working. Another customer came with kids who knew the family so then it was back to talking and gossiping. Also the prices on the menu wasn't the same as what I was charged. The wontons were listed at $6.95 and they were $1 cheaper than that. At least they took credit card bc a yelp review I read said they had a $20 minimum. While my food was good and super cheap, I am not going back there (I got wontons in chili oil and sesame cold noodles).

I swear if it wasn't for their good food, I wouldn't even give them a second chance.

My bf is a sichuan fanatic. Moreso a dan dan noodle fanatic. So given it's name, I thought it'd be a wonderful idea to try out. I'd say we had three dishes in total. One hot pot seafood noodle dish for me, dan dan noodle for him, and a meat dish to share.

The portion size of the dan dan noodles they served here compared to any other were enormous! My bf loved it. My "hot pot" seafood noodle dish, however, was a sad imitation of some udon dish with a lot of cabbage and carrots. And the only seafood that was in there was a few pieces of shrimps and tiny octopus legs and tiny medallions. I'd say the meat dish (twice cooked pork) was the highlight of our visit. We agreed that we wouldn't mind coming back here for the meat dish and only that.

Since it was Chinatown and all, I really didn't mind the language barrier between us. I was really slow and accentuating to their needs to understand but all of the waitresses treated us like we were some aliens and would not cooperate to understand us. That's where some star falls. You see, my bf got a little (a lot) agitated with their body language like they didn't want our service.
